Tips on Allyship
Following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man at the hands of the police in America, and the protests that followed, the conversation around racism reached new decibels. On dining tables and on office zoom meetings, racism became 'the' topic at the top of agendas. And one particular theme was how white people could become good allies. Naturally, many were keen to do the best they could to be part of the solution. But it was not easy to know where to start and what to do to become an effective ally. As expected, all the bubris around allyship has since died and most have slipped back into old habits and blindness to racism. But allyship continues to be as importatant today as it was in 2020. So we continue to share tips on how to become a great ally.
